A Long History of Engineering Excellence
eOn’s rich history of providing innovative communications products and services dates back to 1897 when Kellogg Switchboard and Company was formed. In 1957, Kellogg merged with International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation (ITT) to create a business unit to focus on the development and sales of telecommunications systems and technologies. In 1987, ITT spun-off its telecommunications division, which became a privately held company called Cortelco Systems. Later, Cortelco Systems acquired Solid State Systems, one of the first companies to develop Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) technology – the precursor to today’s advanced contact center solution platforms. The combined companies were then taken public in February 2000 under the new corporate name – eOn Communications.
Market Leading Innovation
In the early 1980’s the company introduced the System 3100 – one of the first digital PBX systems made available to the market. In 1997, eOn became the first company to develop an enterprise communications switching system, using both the open standards Linux operating system and Intel computing platform. In 2000, eOn was first to deliver a single queuing multi-media contact center solution also based on open standards. Throughout this time period, eOn has been recognized for delivering superior products and services to the communications marketplace and has received a number of awards and accolades from industry observers.

This history is proof of eOn’s ability to respond to emerging technologies and industry change. eOn customers can depend on a communications solutions partner that embraces technology advancements and that can leverage them in the form of solutions that are both feature rich and reliable. eOn has a long history of delivering such solutions, and is committed to continue this strategy in the future.
